Provision Trade Benevolent Institution
The Provision Trade Charity since 1835
Please visit our website at http://ptbi.org.uk/
Founded in the reign of William IV as the Cheesemongers’ Benevolent Institution.
The Provision Trade Benevolent Institution (otherwise known as the PTBI) continues to assist those former members of the Provision and Allied Trades who find themselves in distressed circumstances. This does not, however, cover the retail trade which is covered by another charity.
Beneficiaries
Those eligible for grants or other payments must:
- Have been employed or engaged in the Provision Trade for at least ten years.
- Or be the widow or widower of such person.
- And be a needy person whose total residual income is less than that laid down by the Trustees from time to time.
Any application will be dealt with promptly and in strict confidence and subject to the above criteria being met, this will then be passed on to our welfare visitor for a full report to lay before the Trustees.
It is our policy to search out former members of the Trade who may be eligible for some assistance, but inevitably there are those whom we do not reach. If you know someone who you feel might qualify, then a telephone call or letter will soon clarify the position.
Subscribers
We are of course always looking for new subscribers to our funds. If you are not already a donor and would like to make a contribution of any size, we shall be delighted to hear from you.
